In this video, we’re walking through the prep process for a 24-gauge matte black pencil-ribbed metal roof.
First, each panel is run through the notcher. Then it goes back through the machine again to create an upward hem before it’s ready for installation.
The main reason for the upward hem is protection. It helps prevent wind-driven rain from getting pushed up underneath the ridge and into the attic, which is a common failure point in metal roofing systems when details are missed.
Once installed, these panels lock into a clip system. This allows the roof to stay secure while still giving the metal room to expand and contract naturally with temperature changes, without compromising the weather seal.
