Not all siding installs are done correctly, and this is a great example of what to avoid.
In this video, our team points out stacked siding seams and explains why they can become a problem over time. When seams line up too closely, it increases the chances of water finding its way behind the siding.
Proper installation means spacing seams appropriately, in this case, about 16 inches apart. This will help reduce water intrusion and improve the long-term performance of your siding.
It’s small details like this that make a big difference in protecting your home.
What actually holds a metal roof in place?
In this video, our project manager breaks down the clip system used in metal roofing.
Clip systems secure the panels while allowing for natural expansion and contraction as temperatures change. This helps improve durability, reduce maintenance, and extend the life of the roof.
It’s one of the key details that makes metal roofing such a reliable, long-term solution, especially in climates like the Pacific Northwest.
Part 1 of this metal roof installation and we’re already setting the tone for the entire project.
In this video, our crew is installing 40-foot-long metal panels, which requires careful planning, precision handling, and an experienced team to get everything aligned properly. Panels at this length aren’t just about efficiency. They help reduce seams, which means fewer potential leak points and better long-term performance.
Getting these panels installed correctly from the start is critical. Every measurement, alignment, and fastening decision plays a role in how this roof will perform over time, especially in the PNW climate. This is where quality installation makes all the difference.
Stay tuned as we continue the process and bring this roof together.
A beautiful home doesn’t always mean a protected home.
During this project, our team uncovered wood rot caused by water intrusion from missing flashing details. Over time, water was able to get behind the system, causing the wood to deteriorate and lose its ability to protect the home.
Flashing plays a critical role in directing water away from vulnerable areas of a home. When those details are missed, small issues can turn into major repairs.
This is why proper installation and water management matter.
Metal roofing isn’t just a trend, it’s a long-term upgrade.
In this video, we share some of the benefits of metal roofing, and why more homeowners are choosing this option. These roofs are known for their durability, longevity, and protection against harsh weather. From standing up to the Pacific Northwest climate to requiring less maintenance over time, metal is built to perform.
We also cover some lesser-known benefits, like the ability to change colors without a full replacement and the fact that metal roofing materials are recyclable.
Let us know what questions you have about metal roofing.
This is what a large-scale metal roofing project looks like.
For this 22,000 sq ft roof, we’re making panels on-site using Nu-Ray’s metal machine.
With panels reaching 85.5 feet long, this project requires precision, planning, and the right equipment to get the job done correctly.
From coil-fed to installation, every step is handled with attention to detail to create a durable metal roof system built to perform.
Follow along as we bring this massive project to life.
In this video, we’re walking through the prep process for a 24-gauge matte black pencil-ribbed metal roof.
First, each panel is run through the notcher. Then it goes back through the machine again to create an upward hem before it’s ready for installation.
The main reason for the upward hem is protection. It helps prevent wind-driven rain from getting pushed up underneath the ridge and into the attic, which is a common failure point in metal roofing systems when details are missed.
Once installed, these panels lock into a clip system. This allows the roof to stay secure while still giving the metal room to expand and contract naturally with temperature changes, without compromising the weather seal.
It’s a detail-driven process, but those small steps are what make the system perform long-term in a climate like the Pacific Northwest.
Thinking about a metal roof in the Pacific Northwest?
Our team breaks down why more homeowners are making the switch. In a climate like ours, your roof has to handle constant rain, moisture, and seasonal changes, and metal roofing performs for a few key reasons:
• Longevity
• Low maintenance
• Clean, modern look that holds up over time
If the color ever fades, it can be repainted. And if you ever decide to have it torn off, the material is fully recyclable, making it a sustainable option.
If you are planning a roof replacement, this is definitely something worth considering.
Ever wonder how metal roofing panels are made?
For this project, we’re using Nu-Ray’s metal machine on-site to create panels from start to finish. It begins with a metal coil, which is fed through the machine and formed into fully shaped roofing panels, cut to the exact length needed for the roof.
