Crew members face safety hazards on a roof. We believe in protecting of staff and full compliance set forth by Department of Labor & Industries (L&I), we perform randomized on site safety checks by administration, weekly safety meetings, on site safety checklists filled out by fully trained Foremen with CPR and fall safety education courses keeping safety on the forefront.
Personal Protection Equipment & Fall Protection Plan
We ensure use of a fall protection system for crew members who are exposed to fall hazards of 4 feet or more while engaged in work, other than roofing work or leading edge work, on low pitched roofs.
Crew members are equipped with a rope and harness system, free of any rips, tears or excessive wear.
Each foreman completes and keeps a copy of the fall protection plan, which lists what hazards are on-site and what measures are being taken to keep everyone safe. It also lists addresses of all urgent care care facilities in case of an emergency. Copies of these plans are signed, filed and kept on record to confirm steps taken at each project.
Customer Responsibilities
Each customer we have the pleasure of working with is provided with a contract including customer responsibilities to ensure the safety of the residents and property.
These responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Limiting traffic in and out of the home or building. Falling debris can occur and we make sure the on-site foreman is in communication with the occupant(s) so that work above can pause while people enter or exit.
- Closing windows to avoid residual dust from entering the home.
- No children or pets allowed in yard during the work. Our crew cleans up after projects to pick up as many nails, staples and debris as possible to make it safe for anyone to walk around the home.
First Aid & CPR
We send our crew and staff to a yearly CPR refresher course to update CPR practices, which is essential for any work environment.
First Aid kits are located in all company vehicles and checked by the production team to confirm they are easily accessible and sufficiently supplied in case of an injury. Along with First Aid kits, the on-site foreman keeps the company Accident Prevention Plan in their vehicles to refer to for regular safety checks on each project.
Safety briefings by staff are performed at least once a week to communicate key tips for an accident-free work environment. During these meetings, we are able to have conversations about preventative measure and brainstorm about how we can continue keeping everyone safe.
We believe that preparation is everything, not just for efficiency of project, but for the well-being of everyone on-site. The measures we take allow us to go home safely everyday and serve the next.
