What does it take to switch from a concrete tile roof to architectural shingles?
In this project, our PM walks through the tear off process and what happens underneath the existing tile roof before the new shingles can be installed.
Concrete roof tiles are heavy, so removing them is a significant part of the tear off process. Once the tiles are removed, our crew takes off the existing 1×2 battens and underlayment.
With those layers removed, the entire roof deck can be inspected for areas of rot or other repairs that need to be addressed before moving forward.
Once the deck is properly prepared, we install new synthetic underlayment and get the roof ready for the architectural shingles.
