Salmon Days: Showing Up for the Issaquah Community

Salmon Days booth

By Katie Rains

There’s something different about being part of a community event when you’re there as a local business.

You’re not just passing through. You get to stand in one place for a while, watch people come and go, recognize familiar faces, meet people you have never crossed paths with before, and get a feel for the community outside of a jobsite or business transaction.

That was one of the best parts of Salmon Days in Issaquah.

Integrity Roofing & Construction had a booth at this year’s festival, and the weekend turned into exactly the kind of community experience that makes showing up worthwhile. There were plenty of new faces, past customers stopping by to say hello, and a whole lot of people simply enjoying a beautiful weekend together.

Salmon Days has been an Issaquah tradition for decades, bringing people downtown for food, entertainment, arts and crafts, family activities, the Grande Parade, and the annual return of salmon to the Issaquah Salmon Hatchery. The 2026 festival marked the event’s 57th year.

A Booth Becomes a Meeting Place

Setting up a booth at a community event sounds pretty straightforward. Put out the table, get everything arranged, and wait for people to walk by.

Then the weekend actually starts.

Suddenly, the booth becomes a meeting place. Someone stops because they recognize the Integrity name. Another person has a question about a home project. Someone else just wants to say hello. A conversation that starts with roofing can turn into a conversation about the neighborhood, local businesses, homeownership, or what brought someone to the festival that weekend.

That is what made Salmon Days so enjoyable.

There was no pressure for every conversation to turn into a lead or a project. Sometimes it was simply nice to meet someone new. Other times, it was even better to see a familiar face.

Past customers stopped by the booth throughout the weekend, which was one of the highlights for the team. There is something rewarding about seeing people after a project is finished and getting to catch up without talking about shingles, flashing, or a work schedule.

Those relationships matter.

A roofing company may meet a homeowner because something on their house needs attention, but that does not have to be the only reason the relationship exists.

Seeing Familiar Faces Outside the Jobsite

Home improvement is personal.

When a contractor works on someone’s home, they are stepping into a space that matters to that homeowner. Whether it is a roof replacement, siding project, deck, or another exterior improvement, there is a level of trust involved.

That is why seeing past customers at an event like Salmon Days means something.

It’s a chance to reconnect without a clipboard, ladder, or jobsite in the background. There is no project to walk through and no punch list to review. It’s just a conversation.

Those moments are also a good reminder of how many relationships a local contractor builds over time.

A completed project does not mean the connection has to end when the crew leaves. Homeowners become neighbors, community members, and familiar faces. Sometimes they stop by a booth at a festival years later just to say hi.

For a business that works throughout the Puget Sound, those interactions are a meaningful part of being local.

New Conversations Are Just as Valuable

The other side of the weekend was meeting people who had never worked with us before.

That’s one of the things community events do well. They create an easy opportunity for people to meet a business without having to pick up the phone, schedule an appointment, or already have a project in mind.

Someone can walk up, ask a question, grab some information, and keep enjoying their weekend.

That matters in an industry like roofing and construction, where many homeowners do not think about their roof until something goes wrong. A homeowner might not know what a roof vent looks like, when gutters need attention, or what signs indicate that a roof is starting to fail. They may have questions they have been putting off because they are not sure who to ask.

A community event creates a much more casual starting point.

And sometimes, the conversation is not even about a home project. It’s simply two people talking.

That is something worth making time for.

Band at Salmon Days

More Than a Weekend at a Festival

Salmon Days is a large event, but what stood out was how local it felt.

Businesses, organizations, families, volunteers, and residents all had a reason to be there. The festival has grown into a major Washington event, but it still revolves around a very simple idea: bringing people together in Issaquah to celebrate a tradition that has been part of the community for generations.

That is the kind of environment we want to be part of.

Community involvement is not just about putting a logo on a banner. Sometimes it means sponsoring something. Sometimes it means supporting a nonprofit. Sometimes it means volunteering. And sometimes it means spending a sunny weekend standing at a booth, talking to people, and enjoying the same event everyone else came out to enjoy.

Those things may look small on their own, but they add up.

For a company that works on homes throughout the region, getting to know the communities it serves outside of a construction project is important. The people walking around Salmon Days are the same people who own homes, manage properties, run businesses, raise families, and contribute to the neighborhoods that make the Puget Sound what it is.

Being part of that matters.

Issaquah Salmon Days

Proud to Keep Showing Up

By the end of the weekend, the booth had done what we hoped it would do. It gave us a place to meet new people, reconnect with past customers, and spend time surrounded by a huge group of people enjoying Issaquah.

And honestly, sometimes that is enough.

Not every community event needs to result in a new project or a business conversation. Sometimes the value is simply being present and showing people that a local company wants to be involved in the places where its team works and its customers live.

That is something Integrity Roofing & Construction plans to keep doing.

When homeowners do need help with a roof, siding, gutters, decks, or another exterior project, we want to be a company they already recognize and feel comfortable talking to. But before that phone call ever happens, there is value in being part of the community, getting to know people, and showing up when there is nothing to sell.
