Community involvement looks different from one event to the next. Sometimes it means volunteering. Sometimes it means sponsoring a local organization. And sometimes, it means showing up for a family and a community during a difficult time.
On September 13, the Portland crew from Integrity Roofing & Construction had the opportunity to do exactly that.
The team participated in the annual golf tournament hosted by Bandits Bar & Grill and Pour Sports Bar & Grill, serving as a hole sponsor and spending the day alongside community members who came together for an important cause. The tournament was a fundraiser for Sgt. Garrett Thornton and his family, giving local businesses and community members an opportunity to show their support.
For Integrity Roofing & Construction, being there was about more than putting a company name on a golf hole. It was about showing up, connecting with the community, and helping contribute to a fundraiser centered around a family that needs support.
A Day on the Course for a Bigger Cause
Golf tournaments have a way of bringing people together.
There’s the competition, the conversations between holes, the laughs when a shot does not quite go as planned, and the chance to spend a few hours outside with people from the community. But when an event is organized around helping someone and their family, the day takes on a little more meaning.
That was the case at this year’s tournament.
The Portland crew joined golfers, local businesses, event organizers, and other supporters for a day dedicated to raising money for Sgt. Garrett Thornton and his family.
As a hole sponsor, the Integrity team had the chance to be part of the event from the course itself. It was an opportunity to meet people, talk with other businesses and community members, and support the fundraiser in a hands-on way.
The team also brought a little extra excitement to the day by raffling off a $2,000 discount toward a metal roof.
It was a fun way to interact with golfers while also contributing something that could make a meaningful difference for the raffle winner.
But the raffle was only one small piece of the day.
The bigger reason for being there was the fundraiser itself.
Showing Up When a Family Needs Support
Community support becomes especially important when someone is facing circumstances that can change life in an instant.
For Sgt. Garrett Thornton and his family, this fundraiser provided an opportunity for the surrounding community to come together and offer support.

There was still plenty of fun on the golf course.

A typical workday does not always leave much room for those conversations.
Someone may know Integrity Roofing & Construction because they have seen a truck around town, worked with a member of the team, or heard the company name from a neighbor. An event like this creates a completely different setting to actually talk.
That matters for a local business.
Relationships are built through more than transactions. They grow through conversations, shared experiences, and simply being present in the same community.
The golf tournament gave the Portland crew a chance to do that while supporting a cause that was bigger than any individual business.
And, of course, there was a little friendly competition along the way.
The $2,000 metal roof raffle gave golfers another reason to stop by the sponsored hole, chat with the team, and take part in the event. It was a small way to add something of its own to the day while keeping the focus on the fundraiser.
Community Involvement Goes Beyond the Jobsite
Roofing is the day-to-day work at Integrity Roofing & Construction, but community involvement is an important part of being a local business.
A company can be present in a community without truly being involved in it. Those are two different things.
Being involved means getting out from behind the day-to-day work and participating in the things that matter to the people around you. It means supporting local events, nonprofits, families, and organizations when there is an opportunity to help.
The Portland team’s participation in this golf tournament is one example of that.
It was not a roofing event. There was no jobsite to inspect or roof to repair. Instead, the team was there simply as members of the community, supporting a fundraiser for Sgt. Garrett Thornton and his family.
That distinction is important.
Community involvement does not always need to connect directly to what a business sells. Sometimes the most meaningful opportunities are the ones where the only goal is to contribute to something bigger than the business itself.
