Some community events are about competition. Others are about connection. The Benevolent Fund Open at Gold Mountain Golf Club managed to bring both together with a day of memories.
Integrity Roofing & Construction was proud to participate as a hole sponsor for this year’s event, joining firefighters, local businesses, community members, and supporters for a day on the course. With beautiful weather, plenty of time to connect, and a cause that reaches far beyond the golf course, it was a great reminder of what happens when a community comes together to support the people who spend their careers supporting others.
The Benevolent Fund Open was organized in support of the Kitsap Firefighters Benevolent Fund, a nonprofit dedicated to helping firefighters, their families, and members of the surrounding community during times of need. The organization has been serving local communities since 2011, providing assistance that has included financial relief during illness and tragedy, academic scholarships, coats for kids, and support for local organizations.
A Day on the Course With a Bigger Purpose
The first annual Benevolent Fund Open brought golfers together at Gold Mountain Golf Club for a day of friendly competition, fellowship, and fundraising.Â
For a hole sponsor, the day offered something a little different than a typical business event. There was plenty of golf happening, of course, but there was also an opportunity to simply be around the people who make up the community.
That part matters.
Local businesses spend a lot of time talking about community. It can become an easy phrase to put on a website or social media post. Actually showing up is different. Sponsoring an event, talking with people face to face, hearing about the organizations they support, and spending a few hours alongside members of the community makes that idea much more tangible.
The weather certainly helped. A beautiful day on the course made it easy to slow down, enjoy the surroundings, and have conversations that probably would not happen during a typical workday.
And sometimes those conversations are the best part of an event.
Supporting the People Behind the Uniform
Firefighters are often recognized for what they do during emergencies. They respond when people are having some of their worst days. They show up to fires, accidents, medical emergencies, and other situations where help cannot wait.
But the people behind those uniforms have families, personal challenges, unexpected expenses, illnesses, and difficult circumstances of their own.
That is where the Kitsap Firefighters Benevolent Fund comes in.
Its stated mission is to assist firefighters, their families, and community members in times of need while also supporting programs focused on the health, safety, and education of firefighters and the broader community.
That makes an event like the Benevolent Fund Open about more than raising money through a golf tournament. It’s about creating a way for the broader community to give back to people who spend their time giving to others.
The fund’s history reflects that broader purpose. Since 2011, it has worked to assist local communities through efforts such as scholarships, coats for children, YMCA support, and financial assistance related to illness and tragedy.
That is the kind of cause that makes showing up feel worthwhile.
Why Community Involvement Matters

More Than a Sponsorship
Being a hole sponsor at the Benevolent Fund Open was one small way to support a much larger effort.
The real story was the reason everyone was there.
The golfers. The firefighters. The families. The businesses. The community members. Everyone brought something to the event, whether that meant financial support, time, a sponsorship, or simply showing up.
The result was a day that felt like a community gathering.
That’s what made the Benevolent Fund Open memorable.
It was a beautiful day at Gold Mountain, but the setting was only part of it. The bigger takeaway was seeing so many people come together around a cause that directly supports firefighters and their families when they need it most.
For a company that works throughout the Puget Sound community, those are the kinds of events worth being part of.
Showing Up for the Community
