How PNW Homes are Getting Ruined

Dec 5, 2022Education

It is no surprise that the Pacific Northwest sees a lot of rain each year! Although the rain is great for our lush greenery it isn’t great for our homes if we don’t handle the water properly. Our team has put together 4 tips to prevent water from damaging your home.

  • Check for leaks:

Minor leaks can be hard to detect but overtime can cause serious damage. A leaky tap can displace up to 57 gallons of water a week. Make sure to look under your sink and check the windows for cracks, leaks, and molds as well!

  • Clean your gutters:

This might seem like a simple step but it is a very important one! When gutters are left uncleaned they can create clogs and lead to damaging drain pipes which can be expensive.

  • Don’t let moisture or mold grow:

When inspecting your house, look for water stains or signs of mold on the walls and ceilings. Cracking or flaking paint can also be an indicator of water or mold damage.

  • Inspect your roof for debris:

After a snow storm or heavy wind and rain debris can fall on your roof and leave cracks, or cause tears. Early detection of this can be huge in reducing the long term damage.
